COMING HOME
Coming home refers to those Catholics, who for what ever reason have not practiced their Catholic faith, and now seek to do so. We at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church welcome all such individuals. Let us assist you on your journey back home.
There are many reasons why someone is distanced from the Catholic faith. Below are but a few reasons that might speak to you personally:
- you were born Catholic, but never raised in an environment of practicing your faith
- there is an issue or controversy that you feel strongly about that the Catholic faith does not approve of or is on the opposite side of your opinion
- a substantial amount of time has transpired that the endeavor of understanding and living your faith appears unattainable
- you have been misinformed about the Catholic faith and its teachings
- perhaps some one from the Catholic faith has harmed you physically, emotionally and/or spiritually and your hurt, anger and all that you feel has been applied to the entire Church
- you may find it difficult to “fit in,” you dismiss yourself as being unworthy to be apart of the Catholic faith, “church is not for me.”
- the task of familiarizing yourself with the Catholic faith, of becoming a practicing Catholic appears to be too great a challenge, a daunting one.
- you are currently divorced and need to obtain an annulment
- perhaps some one close to you, family, friend or other, is against your “returning home” and you now find yourself confronted with increased incidences of antagonism, rejection, disapproval and other things that is making your return very difficult
What ever may be your reasons, we at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church welcome your return and seek to help you with openness, guidance and support. Personal appointments, RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), bible study, support groups, reading recommendations and more are available to you on your journey.
Also available to you at St. Peter’s is healing, understanding, encouragement and our desire to continually assist you on your journey on a path to living your faith in a closer following of our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, "...the way, the truth and the life."
